Hungary Retail Sales Rise 3.6% Year-on-Year in April, KSH Says
According to raw data, retail trade volume was 1.7% higher than in April 2025. In calendar- and Easter-adjusted terms, the increase reached 3.6%. Sales volumes increased across the main retail segments compared with the same month of the previous year. Calendar-adjusted sales in specialized and non-specialized food shops rose 3.4%, while non-food retail sales increased 2.6%. Automotive fuel retailing recorded the strongest annual growth, with sales volumes rising 9.1% from April 2025. Despite the year-on-year increase, retail sales weakened on a monthly basis. According to seasonally and calendar-adjusted KSH data, the volume of retail sales fell 1.2% compared with March. In January-April 2026, retail sales volume was 4.8% higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year, based on calendar-adjusted data.
