Motorcyclist dies in Government Hill hit-and-run, Anchorage police say

A motorcyclist died in a Friday night Government Hill hit-and-run, Anchorage police said. Officers were called to North Post Road between Sitka and Wrangell streets at about 9:15 p.m. for a collision between a Jeep Cherokee and motorcycle, the Anchorage Police Department said in a statement. The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the Jeep fled in a different vehicle, according to police. An Anchorage police spokesperson, in response to questions seeking additional information on Saturday morning, wasn’t immediately able to provide more information. The identity of the motorcyclist will be released after their next of kin have been notified, the police department said. Police asked witnesses or anyone with information to call 311 or submit an anonymous tip online to Anchorage Crime Stoppers, who can also be reached at 907-561-7867.
